Does anyone know of other "fat" sports and GT cars?

3734 lb -- not quite 2 tons. But when you've got 617 hp, who cares?

Those of us who enjoy cornering and appreciate agility in braking as well,
just might care. Gimme an Elise any day...

The McLaren will beet the Elise on anything bigger than a junior go-cart
track.

It's a big fat pimpmobile. The Elise is a sportscar. They're as
different as night and day. The McLaren's an automatic, for pete's
sake.

So? I am afraid you rather missed my point. And there is no reason to
bring vegetables such as beet into the discussion.

It's a two-ton all-aluminium 2+2 turd. And ugly as sin.

I don't like the SLR at all - it's an utter POS. But then, so is the
Scaglietti. An ugly, profligate POS unworthy to succeed the 456. Shame
on you for making excuses for it.

Sign of the times.

No, but I don't have to get kicked in the groin to know that would be
unpleasant either.

The 612 isn't my cup of grappa either, but it should properly be
compared to the AMG CL65, which it's lighter than by some 600lbs.

The Elise is a car I would have wanted in my teen's, it's ok to
drive for an hour or two on a Sunday afternoon, there are many cars
I'd prefer now.

Teens lol, from what I know of most teenagers with any balls, in an
Elise down English country roads the most likely result would have
been "Simon and Elise wrapped around a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G."

However I don't think the person who introduced the Elise into the
topic was suggesting for any more than the "weekend fun" factor. I'm
sure most people are with you on that.

For most of my twenties I had a lovely 20-30 minute ride through the
country to work. I'd have happily alternated the bike(s) with an
Elise.
What I did use to have/choose to alternate it with for the first
couple of years was a 1litre Mini Metro (0-60 in about a minute and a
half). I learnt more about roadcraft and even a little about
racecraft in that little thing than most people I have driven with
have ever demonstrated.
Still if you prefer your comfortable and safe Volvo Estate I can
appreciate that.

Sorry there I was off down memory lane and I forgot why I decided to
respond. I had meant to ask what you were driving in your teens.

Datsun 140Y, I loved that car!
