Kimi and Fernando lap comparison in Melbourne, don't be deceived by Kimi's
white gloves (that there's move wheel movement).

At first glance it's a carbon copy. Kimi did work much harder at the
wheel at last turn though, with TC going nuts as usual, to keep the
thing on the road.

I don't know which is supposed to be the sublime and which the
ridiculous. They're so close as to be almost identical. If anything, the
Mac looks smoother. Notwithstanding Kimi's white gloves, there IS more
movement at the Ferrari's wheel. Also, Fernando's famous aggressive
turn-in seems to be much attenuated. Also, what we don't know is the
comparative speed difference on that lap, and how much either of them
was holding back.

Thanks for the clip!

Fascinating clip. The McLaren definitely looks smoother than the
Ferrari, but whether that's down to the driver-style differences or the
car is debateable. Probably a bit of both.

It would be more telling if we had similar shots of Felipe/Kimi and
Lewis/Fred, n'est ce pas?

Are we playing spot the difference? Kimi seems to get more movement when
he opens the throttle, and assuming these are both fast laps (bit tricky
since they're not identified) I'd say it looks like Fernando could push
the Mclaren a bit harder in the second half of the lap - maybe his TC
was set to cut in a bit early. Fernando does look silky smooth though,
so much for the idea that he would fail to adjust to a car that turns in
nicely.

Nah... Fernando is just not trying hard enough, and is already gone
into the minimize risk mode he displayed in 2005.
