As far as I know, they use the host country's film crews and
editors/directors, so coverage ends up being biased towards the driver or
team that hails from that country. They give Japanese drivers
significantly more coverage at Suzuka than any other race.

Suppose one solution would be for Bernie to create his own traveling tv
crew.

He tried that with Digital F1a few years ago which failed dismally.

Failed commercially. It didn't fail in terms of providing much better
coverage.

I don't think we saw much, if any, more of Ferrari than on other
races, but the coverage was quite bad. The editor seemed to cut from
camera to camera for no apparent reason. When Kimi was having the tyre
problem we were watching JPM. It was a bit of a boring race, made
worse by the telecast. Sad.. Monza used to be a hoot to watch.

The solution would be for Bernie to have the hosts sign a contract on
the average or minimum and maximum amounts of time spent on each car.
On the other hand the country hosting the race should, IMO, be allowed
to have more coverage of it's own driver or car..
It is probably a lot more difficult to figure this out any better than
the way it works now, when all parties and money issues come into the
mix.

I think the issue here is the obvious disconnect between the commentators
and whoever is directing the race. Much of the time the TV commentators
would be talking about a totally different thing than what is on the screen.
Like when Kimi was stuck behind JV that's the only thing the ITV commentatry
was about that but the only cars being shown lap after lap were ferraris.
It's always been this way but it has gotten bad this season

We didn't see much of the Ferraris on ITV, other than where Michael was
failing dismally to pass Rubens. The guy has clearly forgotten how to race
without blue flags and team orders getting him past other cars.
