across to me.

This year, he's different. Something has changed. I've seen his true
colours as a racer. He's not complaining about his lot at the start
of the year, having a grossly uncompetitive car, and got on with the
job of racing the car hard, qualifying hard and trying his arse off.

Kudos to you LH. Wouldn't be surprised to see you win handsomely
tonight, and challenge strongly for the championship in 2010.

Sometimes it's in how we accept defeat that we endear ourselves to
others.
The British hate a winner.
The class system has a great deal to answer for.
A shame, because at least half the population views the world through
shit-tinted glasses.
Hamilton was a born racer - and anyone too blind to see that either
has a heavy shade of shit going on ... or just ain't the sharpest tool
in the box. I think matters are obfuscated (word of the day - 10
points thanks) by
the Hamster's rather bland personality, which makes him less appealing
than other, more 'out there' drivers.

Seven shades of shit in front of Fred, IMHO.

British? I'm Australian. I generally hate the British... :-) That's
the shit that's been tinting my glasses.
His personality is a little bit more likeable, a little bit more
interesting this year.

I'm British/European, and I'm not predisposed to hate anyone :-)

Hamilton? He's bloody good!

I'm an Earthman.

Isn't that true of any driver how manages to take the career path to F1?

When did he have an uncompetitive car? Only at the beginning of this year
I think.

Rubbish.

A very broad statement certainly, but I do think that there is
something in it, Paul.
How many times have we seen successful Brits vaunted by the press only
to be slagged off when they show the slightest sign of not actually
being superhuman?

The Tall Poppy Syndrome exists just about everywhere I think.

Call anyone a champion and a vocal minority will instantly appear to tear
them down at any opportunity.

I was brought up in a time (and a class) where the slightest tendency
to appear triumphalist was frowned on and the only *really* important
thing was to be sporting, i.e. a "good loser". I think that traces
of this attitude still remain and many British people are slightly
embarrassed about winning.
However, whilst not driven by any very intense desire to win I do
think most Brits have a fierce determination not to *lose*, which is
not quite the same thing.

Ditto.

Though in the eyes of those who can't see it, this was only explicable by
playing the race card.

As Dave said in a separate post I think the lying fiasco in small part
and an uncompetitive car got through to him just how fragile any
drivers' apparent form and status is. So hopefully the monkeys-at-the-
back Lewis is gone now. He certainly has softened.

Not so..

Just exactly what it was that prevented us from seeing the best of Kimi
most of the time may prove a similar obstacle. As much as I want your
view on this to be wrong, it is revealing that Kimi's best form was
coincident with Massa's absence. Not that this necessarily implies that
Massa's hand is in it. But what Kimi needed / wanted to be at his best or
at least better was only present then.

Ferrari can't afford to waste Alonso's talent, but Fred is very different
to Kimi. Much more the mastermind and a very strong presence who can
perhaps better understand what he needs in support terms and be more
effective in getting it. On balance and with the experience of McLaren
behind him I think this will go better though.

No, it's clear from the additional '>' that you only wrote one half
of a line, and that Happi Monday wrote the lines that you are objecting
to. LEARN TO READ, and, once you've mastered that, LEARN TO COMPREHEND.

Which leaves us with this little bit, which I repeat verbatim from above:

Why didn't you trim Dave's sig? LEARN TO TRIM PROPERLY.

If you're going to throw around accusations including expletives,
in all caps, then you ought to be damn sure that you're in the right.
