Default top athelete M Schumacher smoking a cigarette ? - 07-23-2006 , 05:37 PM

I often heard about M S athletism; good football player, cyclist,
working out in the gym before a race etc. yet I was astonished when (I
think it was an ITV feed) he was accosted by a jornalist around the
corner from the pits. I swear, it looked like he flicked a cigarette
away when he saw the camera approching and i wasn't sure, but maybe I
saw a bit of smoke too. I've seen him with a cigar on a few occaisions,
so I'm not asking about that. So does anyone know if he smokes ? if
yes, about how much of a habit then?

TIA

Well the Brazilian footballer Socrates used to smoke 60 a day and he was
a world cup finalist!

Haven't a clue about cig. smoking but as you said he loves cigars and
has one to relax or celebrate. He even gave them to his team as
Christmas presents.

A lot of the drivers smoked as recently as the mid 90's but since the
fitness levels have risen even higher these seem to have stopped.

A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed.

Guy Lafleur, one of the leading hockey players of the 70s and early
80s, smoked 2 packs a day. He would even go to the dressing room from
time to time DURING the game to have a smoke.

Times have indeed changed.

Johan Cruijff used to smoke before, after and in the middle of football
matches.

I assume, that with all the exercise and vasodilatation that a football
match means, he would smoke a cigarette in less than a minute.
