Can you put a figure on the viscosity of these jokes - is 20W-50 OK?

Which reminds me of the story of a certain Valentine's Day . . .

She came into the bedroom wearing nothing but a pink cowboy hat, boots
and spurs and even though she was carrying a saddle over one arm I
wasn't really worried. The jumper cables and a quart of Havoline she was
carrying in the other hand didn't scare me either. But, that wasn't a
rose between her teeth, that was a cheese grater. And I think I passed
out when I noticed the bottle of tequila and a sack of lemons . . .

Eh? ITYM Scottish.

The English ones were (more recently than "a good few years") involved
in all sorts of trouble.

No they weren't. They were well behaved in Germany and well behaved in
Portugal. They've been well behaved at UEFA and Champions League matches
ever since they've been allowed back in.
Well la-di-dah give 'em a bloody medal.

They'll have to be well-behaved for at least another couple of decades
or so before their reputation in the eyes of most of Europe (or the
world, even) will climb back out of the gutter. Whether they like it or
not, the English are seen to be the originators and the worst
perpetrators of drunken hooliganism - this goes WAY back - to the
Seventies just to *my* limited knowledge. That other wankers in other
countries in Europe have played copycat (the Dutch have been aggressive
for years, the Italians now, and the French too) doesn't take away from
the fact that the English are at the root of the phenomenon.

I hate hooligans with a passion. I lived in Loftus Road for 2 years, and
up the road from Millwall FC for 9 years. I saw some terrifying things
on Saturday afternoons. At QPR my back garden was trashed twice by
hoolies battling it out with mounted police. On the Old Kent Road, near
Millwall I was yelled at by a group of 30 or so of the F-Troop, in black
balaclavas, all openly brandishing Stanley knives. Needless to say, I
scarpered as fast as my little legs would carry me!

I think they're a bit thicker than that. It is rednecks we're talking
about. What's tar rated at?

Ah. Your definition of "a good few years" appears to be substantially
smaller than mine.

Certainly, when replying to a post giving Scottish and English fans
a bad rap, I think you chose the wrong fans to complain about.

Amazingly, I think I had the best andouillettes available anywhere, ever,
as mine were perfectly edible, and not shitty at all. However, some of
the horror stories I read on the internet after that, when I wanted to
do a post mortem of what I'd just done, sounded truly shocking.

IIRC, it was in Lyon airport. (OK, not a fancy restaurant per se, but
it was no burger joint, put it that way.) Anyone wanting to take the
least possible pig-guts and pig-arse risk is, I guess, recommended to
try them there.

They made the point during the piece May did on the 250mph run in the
Veyron that, although Clarkson went on and on about how fast it goes, in
the plane vs. Veyron race he was forced to stick to the speed limits by
the fact he was on public roads. That rings true; Clarkson has a clean
driving license and if he were caught speeding whilst filming for TG,
the BBC would have the excuse to drop it that they so desperately seem
to want.

But, we saw him get stopped and ticketed by French police for
speeding, during the race to the ski resort.
Are you sure it *was* the French police?

I think you have to appreciate that most of it has to be faked to allow
filming to take place. The episodes with Clarkson in a fast car dashing
across the continent with the other two racing him in trains and planes
springs to mind. How do the camera crew who film Clarkson blasting past at
150 mph get there?

My assumption is that they do those shots the next day.
They do go back to get lots of shots.

I must've missed that one - I don't remember a race to a ski resort.
