Default Traction Control banned for 2008 - 03-30-2007 , 10:01 AM

No surprise Ferrari were the only team who voted against.
The final nail in Gay Mike's coffin for a gap year return. The last
time he drove without traction control was early 1993.

He can't even read in the article "in a move supported by all teams" so
it's hardly likely you'll get a response.

However, interesting to see that they banned the driver's seat:

"Any device or system which notifies the driver of the onset of wheel
spin is not permitted."

This is so stupid. I heard so much about TC from 2000 to 2004. Seemed
like I heard
nothing about it the last two years Alonso was winning. Now why bring it
up? Are they
afraid Kimi is going to run away with the championship like Schumi did all
those years?

The real racing? Now it just means that the only way they can govern
the teams from hiding traction control in their systems is by
implementing a standard ECU for all teams to use, which then kills the
sport.

I don't want to watch F1 turn into another Champ Car.

It's the only realistic way of policing the legality of the software.

Um, no. On the contrary : it brings back lurid power slides on the exits
of corners. It brings back driver error and driver skill, balancing 900
hp on the right foot. It puts the human back in the equation.

It doesn't kill the sport. It revives it from near death!

Pull the plug now. Let's see it go away in '07.

And I am willing to put down a marker now that I believe Button will
cope with this better than most other drivers.
