Paul Tracy says Juan Pablo Montoya is in for a rude awakening as he prepares
to switch gears from Formula One to NASCAR racing.

The Champ Car driver says Montoya will have to dramatically change and adapt
his driving style to bulkier stock cars he'll be using next season.

Wrong.

Sorry, but Montoya's "style" is perfect for Nascar. He's incapable of
driving safely. The organizers of that horror-show will love him.

Dumb move, Juan.

Too bad he doesn't stay in open wheel. It's where drivers no one in the
U.S.has ever heard of nor cares about compete. Well, they compete when they
don't quit on the warm-up lap that is. Send him back to crackland or whatever
other irrelevant place he came from. We don't want him in NASCAR at all,
especially cup racing.

I wouldn't call that fat bastard much of a stock car expert.

Don't like him either, but he does have a point.
Compared to open wheelers, those stock cars are in slow motion.
As in, if you watch the drivers especially on the bigger ovals, when
they make a correction there is a huge lag in response time.
Whether Montoya can get used to that remains to be seen, i still
reckon he'd have been better off going back to Champcars.

Incidentally, can anyone here following Nascar tell me what's
happening to the Aussie guy who went over there ? His name is Ambrose.
The occasional times i tuned into our very rare telecasts, i didn't
see his name anywhere. So he either drops out very early or doesn't
even start anymore ? That would be funny.. he was not the most liked
person here in our V8 touring car series.

I don't believe Ambrose ever made it to a cup race.

He's in the truck series not Nextel Cup or Busch. I'm guessing you
weren't aware of that.

Thanks. No i wasn't aware. We were only told that he is going to
"Nascar" and it's been all quiet on the Ambrose news ever since.
I never even knew there was a truck/ute series under the Nascar logo,
we certainly don't get a glimpse of that here.

You're right; I wasn't aware of that. I've never watched a truck race,
which to me is really a silly form of racing.

I've never watched it but on the face of it, it would appear a bit of a
drop down, status wise, from a popular series like V8 Supercars.

I'd say it's a big drop. It ranks way below Busch even. The trucks aren't
even trucks. Change the roll cage a bit, put on a new skin and they're the
same as Busch cars. It's a series for rookies, never-beens and has-beens.

Taking care of the tires is fundamental in car and motorcycle racing.
The really good teams have engineers that have figured out how to design
a suspension system to take care of the tires. And, a really good
driver has the skills to drive a car fast without tearing up the tires.

If Montoya is any good, he'll figure it out. The cars in NASCAR are
obviously slower. Learning to go slower is always easier than learning
how to be fast. What PT said was probably more for the benefits of the
ignorant fans. Somehow, I doubt Montoya is confused on how to go fast
for the duration of a race.

Openwheel racing in America (Champcar and IRL) is irrelevant. This move
by Montoya and talks from Villeneuve prove it. Not to mention Danica
Patrick looking for a Cup ride.

Dark skin people scare those in "methland". LOL.
