That's why top NASCAR drivers like Gordon hate restrictor plate racing. It
takes all the skill out of superspeedway racing. Everybody is flat out,
regardless of skill level. But, that's the parity that NASCAR wants.

Restrictor plates aren't for "parity" they're for safety.
After Bobby Allison went airborne and nearly went through the fence
into the crowd at Talladega, NASCAR decided they had to slow the cars
down on the two big superspeedways. And restrictor plates is what they
came up with.
Note that as a fan, I don't like restrictor plates either. You
can't pass unless you have help, and bunching the cars up means more
will likely be taken out in a wreck. I still wish they would find some
other way to slow the cars down.

Any way you slow cars down will deliver the same results that you just
pointed out.

Ovals are the cause.

Maybe a half dozen or so right turns.

Smaller engines? Tires with less grip?

Get the hell outa here. There are 5 year old chassis
in Nascar ?

ARCA != NASCAR. Different sanctioning body, but sometimes
ARCA shows up as a support race.
