Default transponders - 06-24-2004 , 03:48 PM

Does anyone know about the placement of where a transponder goes on a
car....
Does the FIA state it has tobe on the front of a car...?
Also is it 80`s technology they use.... or a more moden thing...?

There are three. See tech regs (15.4.1) and drawings (Dessin06)

Dunno about single seaters, but last time I raced they clipped the
transponder onto the roll cage, just behind my left ear. This was two
weeks ago so would probably be fairly representative.

Can't speak for everyone, nor do the rules specify, but in SCCA, it
seems that everyone put it as far forward as possible. At the forward
edge of the chassis on most formula and sports cars.

Incredibly, Spider <spider (AT) the (DOT) web.invalid> managed to sputter:

The local karters put it in a sidepod about mid-chassis.

I must admit that if I were doing it I'd put it as far forward as the
rules allowed.

Mind you it's an expensive item for a karter and I suppose for them
the risk of crash damage is a factor.

So, I've been busy and haven't caught up on everything lately Cal, but
are you running your own kart team now? That's the gist of what I've got
from what you've posted...

drop me an email at matty<removethisbithere>pope@<spam.stopperhopefull y>
hotmail.com. Even if this does get harvested, it's already loaded with
spam, so I'd hardly notice the difference. Did you figure out the email
address?

If we do trade e-mails I'd likely give you an address that tosses out
everything except those that I specifically allow so I'd have to plug
an address in for you before you sent a thing. Frankly I am not fussy
about hotmail harvesting my addresses.
Fair enough. I've got a bigpond address, I'm not sure if it's in here or
not... pope dot matthew at <spamblocker> bigpond dot <more blocking spam>
com.

Figure that one out? he he...
