Default Villeneuve's Comments as True as Anyone's - 08-23-2006 , 02:59 PM

"But he lies not only to fans but to his fellow drivers, too," said
Villeneuve. "At the GPDA meeting at Silverstone he lied to us [about
his qualifying incident at Monaco] and he didn't even have the decency
to appear embarrassed about it. He just stared in our eyes and lied."
[Guardian quote]

Jacques, he was also deceiving himself.

The sad point is that many intensely neurotic people don't recognize
that they are lying. They are telling "the truth" at any instant, and
it usually works.

Villeneuve is better qualified than anyone in this NG --- whether you
approve of the public remarks or not -- to point out the failings of
his peers. If Jacques Villeneuve had never won a race, let alone the
World Championship, he would still be qualified to comment on
Schumacher's behaviour.

The unholy mix of fame, PR, money, and uncritical adoration that drowns
F1 drivers is a bit like Hollywood. Nobody tells the stars the truth,
and the stars come to believe utterly that their every action and word
must be right and true. They always claim that they hate yes-men, but
you won't find any "no-men" working in Hollywood, or in F1.

Mr. Villeneuve and I both believe MS is a brilliant technical driver
but a man of no qualities.
