It's true that I wasn't considering that "type" of bonding...

I agree that this would make really good sense from Kimi's
perspective.

No body's taken into consideration that MS
might just conceed to taking the 2nd seat
next year if Kimi turns out to be good enough
to inherit the primary driver of the future
for Ferrari,

Everyone assums MS's ego is too big for such
consideration. Schumacher, if anything, has
always been a team player!

s/s

Tell Eddie Irvine, Rubens Barrichello, Felipen Massa and Johnny Herbert
that and you'll have them laughing all the way home.
And which of those would you consider a better driver than Schumacher ?

We'll never know because they've never been allowed to show what they
can actually do. However when he was with Jordan he was often beaten by
Martin Brundle, when he was at Benetton he was no better than Johnny
Herbert until he insisted on Flav denying Johnny track testing time and
refusing to share telemetry information.

Draw your own conclusions.

Unless your definition of "Team" means "Ferrari plus Schumacher and
no-one else".
Hey, Schumacher tried to win a championship for Eddie bloody Irvine,
and gave both Eddie and Barrichello race wins.

So, had Benetton a major German sponsor at the time?

Sorry, what point are you trying to make?

How gracious. He "gave" them race wins. Not a word about the times they
were in front and were forced to slow and let him by... like, for
instance, a certain occasion in Austria.

You've just proved my point. Thank you.

I think you're confusing him with Mansell here..

And do explain to me why Team X would back Driver Y if Driver Z were
better?

Sure sure...

When Senna gave a win to Berger in Japan it was gracious.
When DC moved over for Mika in Melbourne and Jerez it was 'jolly decent'
of him.
When MS dominates a race and hands a win to Irvine it's meaningless.
And when MS seemingly 'accidentally' gave a win to Rubens in Indy that
too can't be interpreted in any positive way. Instead make sure the
interpretation matches your preconceptions, Paul.

Ferrari are a team and not run by MS despite them long having seen him as
'key'. But Austria 2002 was about the team, and in fact the attributes
you attribute to MS would have made Austria even more difficult for him
to accept - if you're correct that would have been excruciating. And if
you're wrong it would have been just uncomfortable.

Which is where Indy came from, to correct the ledger.
