Default Waiting for MS to retire? - 07-27-2006 , 02:45 PM

From http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpa...s_art_id=28791

"Of course, I want to have a car that's a winning care, but it's not just
that. There's also many small things which mades a difference in the end."

I read that as, if MS retires Kimi will go to Ferrari. If MS *doesn't*
retire Kimi will go to Renault. No matter how much money McLaren throws at
him, he's gone!

I agree that this would make really good sense from Kimi's perspective.

However, if MS does stay at Ferrari, going to Ferrari could still make sense
though. Previous MS teammates have had written into their contract that MS
gets preference, but Kimi could get it written into the contract that they
are treated equal. Ferrari could be amenable to this, as they would really
want Kimi and they know MS won't be around for much longer so they need
someone good to replace him long-term. MS, if he's smart, could also
sensibly agree to this. Not only would it make him look better in terms of
being concerned with Ferrari's future as well, but he is in a sort of
win-win situation if he takes Kimi on equal terms. If he still wins, then
this really will show just how good he is. If he loses, it would be easy to
pass it off as just being too old these days.

From Kimi's perspective, Ferrari may seem too good an opportunity to pass up
if they confirm their dominance in the next races, not to mention that
Michelin will be leaving so you would expect the bridgestone teams to
potentially have some advantage when the other teams are forced to switch
over to bridgestone as well.

If I was Kimi, I would consider the course of action you describe UNLESS
Ferrari looks so good that you really can't pass them up.

No body's taken into consideration that MS
might just conceed to taking the 2nd seat
next year if Kimi turns out to be good enough
to inherit the primary driver of the future
for Ferrari,

Everyone assums MS's ego is too big for such
consideration. Schumacher, if anything, has
always been a team player!

Tell Eddie Irvine, Rubens Barrichello, Felipen Massa and Johnny Herbert
that and you'll have them laughing all the way home.

Unless your definition of "Team" means "Ferrari plus Schumacher and
no-one else".

MS will NEVER agree to be a 2nd driver. I'd be surprised to see him
accept equal treatment, but I don't rule that out of the realm of
possibility.

Because his team has been HIS team.

You're too jaded when it comes to
Schumacher to convince otherwise;

The handwriting's on the wall for
all to see, why else would MS concede
to a trade for Kimi when everything's
going so well with Massa!?!

It just a hypothesis predicated on how
well Kimi fits in. Especially in the quali-
fying scenario.

If MS stays and Kimi goes to Ferrari, I'll need some of those meds because I
will take a header from falling over backwards in my desk chair.

Ferrari personnel and MS have been bonding for years so just anybody
can't go in as a newbie and expecting being treated equally even if it
is written in the contract.
