From Autosport:-

US-based Interpublic Group wants £70m for its four UK race circuits -
Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton - reports the
Sunday Telegraph. Interpublic, which bought the circuits for £120m in
1999, has appointed the UK corporate finance arm of real estate
specialist Jones Lang LaSalle, which reports "over 70 enquiries in the
pre-marketing period." Brands Hatch has been estimated at £35m. The
circuits should be sold by September.
That kind of price tag would be well within the range of a few F1 teams
wouldn't it? Be a good place to set up HQ with a test track thrown in!

Sigh. I can very easily imagine Oulton being overrun by a bunch of
lawyers moving from Wilmslow into ghastly fake-Georgian detached houses.
Please, don't let the most charismatic circuit in Britain be destroyed.

Cadwell's sufficiently far from anywhere else and Snett's so bleak that
I can't imagine anyone wanting them for anything other than racing;
Brands and Oulton are in nice areas that people might conceivably want
to live in

Interpublic by the way is a big global advertising company. They
expected some sort of "synergy" by selling advertising or marketing
with racing. A lot of people were scratching their heads when they
made this acquisition.

I bet they could sell off Brands Hatch to build houses because the
track is right next to a residential area. I would rather they turned
Silverstone and all of the modern crappy tracks into developments or
car parks and go back to some of the great tracks.

Eddie Irvine could buy all of those tracks and build luxury homes.

Wasn't this rumour doing the rounds at the start of this year, until
somebody pointed out Brands was a greenfield area and couldn't be built on
any more...?

Oh well, looks like my days of going to see cars screeming through Cascades
and Knickerbrook are over.

Unless anyone can lend me £35 million! I can start with a fiver!

Wonder how much we could raise if we all put £5 in?

Nathan, who wants to take his grandchildren to Oulton in a good few year
time!

Sadly they cannot expand the track or probably run F1 races there
because the houses are too close.

I don't think anyone was planning to expand the track itself, the current
problem IIRC is that for the GP circuit to run high speed series (CART, F1,
etc) safely they'd have to extend the runoff areas virtually into people's
back gardens (although from the overhead photos I've seen, I can't see where
specifically this would be the case). But like I said, there is no danger,
apparently, of BH getting bulldozed into a new housing estate because it
can't be built on.

Don't let existing rules and legislation colour your judgment on this
matter.

Sooner or later pure and utter greed will dictate that it becomes
nothing more than a shitty housing estate. I'll give it 5 years before
the circuit closes (and Oulton too)

10 years from now it will be just a distant memory occupied by wall to
wall gold jewellery owning bastards with onyx coffee tables and two
Mercs in the drive. Not one of the f*ckers will have even been to any
motor race nor do they give a shit.

Meanwhile Tarquin, who could have been a future F1 racing driver,
plays in the quiet surroundings of a sandpit located in the back
garden of a 4 bed detached fake georgian house at 27 Paddock Hill
Drive. Rather than become the new David Coulthard he will instead go
on to become one of the most evil men to have occupied the earth.

Your choice planners, act now or it will be the end of mankind.
