Default Weekend Mechanic: Anyone? - 03-30-2007 , 06:15 AM

While I am miles away from qualifying as a mechanic, the term
"Weekend Mechanic" used to be one of favorite columns in a tech
magazine many years back (John Fisk anybody?); I thought of
reviving it in this space in some other form...

The idea is on a weekend, whenever time permits, anybody from us,
makes a small post on what ever you are cooking, I mean in terms
of motorsports, (it could be non-motorsport related too BTW :P ).

I believe, it could throw up some very interesting posts on motor
sports, or for that matter anything which goes fast while burning
fuel and rubber (ping kzer).

Game?

I had actually compiled a few posts on some analysis I have been
doing courtesy gpsql over the weekends, viz:

(subject)
Weekend Mechanic: The longest wait
Weekend Mechanic: Chase from back, epic races
Weekend Mechanic: Reliability, do I hear McLaren?
Weekend Mechanic: My first time
Weekend Mechanic: Williams profiled
Weekend Mechanic: The Indie-Portuguese connection

etc;

thought the title was apt, as I just get the weekend to do some
thing I really like. Besides, if I can get the veterans to pen
down even a few bits of their activity, problem in hand, it
would be an interesting read, even if OT.

You guys are such a spoil sport. Thanks.

Weekend Mechanic?

One who works on a post 1990 manufactured automobile on a Saturday, has the
hands (and tools) the size of a rodent and no money to spend on a *real*
mechanic.

Weekend Mechanic: The longest wait

???
Drivers who took the longest to get their first podium, this I further
refined to 1st, 2n'd and 3rd. I added another section for drivers who
stayed with a single podium longest / Drivers who have just 1 win etc.

F1?
What else? I will be the last person in this space to post something
non-F1 / OT.

Chase from back, epic races - refers to races where a car / driver
started from the back and brought the car home in top 5. I started
off with just top 3, but then soon realized that overtaking in F1 is
not easy as it looks and further increased the position to top 5.
Some very good races / times from the past in there, thought would
be great to revisit.

Weekend Mechanic: Reliability, do I hear McLaren?

How is that OT?
And when did I say it was it was going to be OT? You assumed, your
fucking bad.

Weekend Mechanic: My first time

I really do not want to know.
LOL. I ofcourse meant "first race weekend."

Quote:
Weekend Mechanic: Williams profiled

Again on topic, unless this ain't Frank or his team.
Almost all stats you could have ever imagined on Team Williams.

Quote:
Weekend Mechanic: The Indie-Portuguese connection

???
2005 season, stats on Tiaga/Narain as teammates, comparing it some
other rookie pairings, while bringing in some other humorous posts
from jordan fans online

Quote:
etc;

???
Work in progress?

WTF is your problem? Pull that bottom lip back in.
LOL. You are a fucking idiot. Why do you think it as a problem?
Request you to first make an attempt to read the fine print of what
I was trying to get going here, understand it well, and then make
any comments.

You've been around a little while and know how things are here. If
your stuff fits why not just
post it and see how it goes like any other person would. You don't need
anyones permission to post.
Clearly you missed the point.

If you need something more formal or are a control freak go start a
forum/website/blog instead and put a link in your sig. I don't know about
the cooking or you losing your cherry but I'm sure the motorsport stuff will
draw some interest and contributions.
Bah... get outta here. Besides so very fucking easy to sit behind a
mask id (Bird) and indulge in nonsense.

It was probably this:

"The idea is on a weekend, whenever time permits, anybody from us,
makes a small post on what ever you are cooking, I mean in terms
of motorsports, (it could be non-motorsport related too BTW :P ). "

in your OP that caused the confusion.

You pathetic hypocritical keyboard warrior.

Never have understood why some people are scared of people who post
under a nym. Do you think that by giving my full name address and
phone number it gives my comments more weight or credibility? That is
very sad Anand or whatever your real name is...

...WTF knows or cares.

To me and nearly everyone reading we are equally anonymous.
Some of us aren't, having met up irl... :-)

I remember posting my full details here. IIRC it was so pencil neck
could come over and shoot me down. Hasn't happened yet, and also, IIRC,
he called me a fag (or somesuch) for doing the same, even though he'd
"dared" me to do it.

Weird, some people.
