Default Well done Alonso - 10-16-2005 , 08:02 AM

.... I thought I should finally say it.

I thought _most_ of the year was darn boring, but it was boring because for
the first half of the year, Alonso Schumachered the field.

If only McLaren had the sense not to put a qually grenade in the back of
his car and it _might_ have been more interesting. Mind you, there were
times I enjoyed watching Kimi fight from the rear to somewhere near the
front of the field, but fer chrissakes, he's not superman... yet.

Schumacher and Barrichello proved that an unhappy team is not a successful
team. (side note: Fisichella was never part of the Renault team, and he was
never supposed to win in Australia. Things just sort of, happened, you
know...), Sato showed that he was the latest Japanese driver to not make
the grade. Juan was brilliant at times, and piss-poor at others (especially
on-court).

For me though, there were four stand-out drivers:

1) Fernando Alonso - little explanation needed. Blitzed them from the 2nd
round on. Built up a solid championship need and was Mr. Consistency.

2) Kimi Raikkonen - apologies if I misspelt it. He had the pace to be
champion, if not the solid steady car.

3) David Coulthard - I just like the guy now that he's not with McLaren. He
took that Jaguar to places it _couldn't_ be...

4) Mark Webber - no really...

All in all though, I'm an unsatisfied customer and it'd better improve next
year, else I'm handing my freebies to someone who hasn't a clue about
motor-sport, and is only there for their good looks. (obviously that's not
me)

I've already said it but no harm saying again!

FA and the car were never anything like as dominant as MS/Ferrari last
year and it always looked like Kimi could get back on terms if only
his car hadn't kept letting him down.

No, but he's bloody quick, probably the quickest of them all right
now.

When was Ruby or any No2 part of a happy Schumacher team?

Too right, mate.

Or on his bike...

Spot on. But which of the ITV tossers said he was "just like Prost"
today? Prost would never in a million years have pulled the moves that
Fernando did at Suzuka...

Spot on again. I'm looking forward to next year if Renault can
maintain the standard and the Macs can become more bulletproof.

He did that. Well done, DC. Shame he didn't get the point for the 500
today but he should have no trouble next year. Very select company
that will put him in, in fact he'd be the only one without at least
three titles...

Not really. One of the biggest disappointments of the year. And I say
that as a fan...

Heh! Forgot to add: lovely moment on the ITV coverage today when
Louise was interviewing Rubens. Massa appeared and poked him in the
ribs. Without thinking, Rubens laughed and retorted: "He thinks he
going to enjoy driving for Ferrari." Spoke volumes...

It spoke about being ready to bend over and take it up the ass. Massa
will be taking some pretty big objects up his asshole from Michael next
year, as Rubens knows only to well. Shame, Mass, like Joss, JJ,
Herbert, Irvine and Rubens has just pissed his career away.
