IndyCar title by this season's end but has been linked - sometimes by
himself - to possible moves to Formula 1 (at BAR-Honda) and NASCAR. "

Hope he remembers how to turn the wheel to the right.

Well if he doesn't then he's going to have some trouble getting around
Watkins Glen and Sears Point this season.

I was listening to the F1 show on 5 live not long after the 500. They
commented that Wheldon had probably been in cart for too long and would not
be up to an F1 drive, insinuating (or perhaps more directly) that his time
in the US would have a detrimental effect on his driving rather than
improving it. In fact they may have mentioned that he's been in cart longer
that Montoya had. I'm not trolling here, did anyone else hear it? I'd be
interested to know what people think?

They have raced at a total of 1 (one) so far in 10 years. Big deal.

As Emma says, 2 of the remaining 4 IRL races are circuits, not ovals.
Also, Wheldon came from circuit racing, like Franchitti.

He has been linked (rather tenuously) with a BAR third driver role, not
a race seat (as has Danica Patrick, who is also a Honda driver). I'm
not sure he'd give up being champion in the IRL and attempting to
retain the Indy 500 title for meandering about on F1 Fridays...

Don't get your knickers in a twist, I don't know anything about cart or irl
or (that's why I asked the question) wheldon. No offence but I don't find US
motorsports terribly interesting.

CART is now ChampCar and is quite good. the irl is all oval for the past 10 years and it sucks....
(they raced 1 street course so far this year)

I watched part of a "champcar" race a few weeks ago, with all the safety
cars the finish felt contrived. Every time the race looked like becoming a
bit stretched out………out came another safety car? So a close finish was
predestined.
