Perhaps the way for the FIA to put an end to this is to put all cars
through an independent wind tunnel test.

This would allow them to check the behaviour of the wings at high speed.

Combined with the static load tests, this should sort things out
fairly quickly.

These tests need to be done at the track though, I don't think a
portable wind tunnel exists...

..unless you got all the team managers to talk at the car about Max's
new rule proposals...

Why at the track? Why not as follows?

Any new aero parts to be tested by the FIA at their approved wind tunnel
before being used in a race.

The only issue then is to ensure that the parts used by teams are the
same design as those tested. Use of batch/serial numbers on parts could
be used to aid scrutineering issues at the track.

Yeah, more regulation is what F1 needs. RFID everything, drivers
included. Don't want any dead-of-night substitutions.

If you want to stop cheating, you need regulation or a single format
series. Fact of life.

The series is now regulated. Has it stopped cheating? No.

That leaves single format....

Or more stringent methods of enforcing the regulations - which is what I
suggest.

As for single format - that's not Formula One. Never has been and never
should be.

Formula One has been only mildly of interest for at least 20 years...

This is the sort of thing that happened many years ago (rear wing
bending back at speed). I can't imagine the other teams can be happy
..

IMO and for the record :

- it's completely illegal
- it should be changed immediately
- same goes for the McLaren front wing
So we agree!

Now, as to why the other teams aren't protesting, there can be only
one possible reason :

- they're all filthy British cheats
Are you channeling someone? ;-p

Quote:
As for why Ferrari isn't protesting either this or the McLaren wing :

- they have more to lose than to gain by protesting

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusion as to why.
No - I don't think that's the case for the McLaren wing. (although the
RBR one will have to change I'm sure). I suspect Ferrari feel there is an
insignificant benefit from the flexibility of the McLaren wing and so see
no need to make a fuss, or will hold their fire for some greater gain.

But if you don't believe me: ask yourself why everyone who finishes
behind McLaren aren't protesting it. It is illegal, the FIA could stop it
instantly if they chose to.

For exactly the reason I stated? To whit : "they have more to lose than
to gain by protesting"

We don't know the half of it. I'll bet every team on the grid has some
flexy bits...

I'm not convinced that it's illegal. I'm not sure it's against the wording
of the rule, and it surely passes the tests. Now maybe both the rule and the
test need to be changed because the part has clearly been designed to do
something that the intent of the rule/test want to forbid - but that's what
innovation is all about.

Contrast the Ferrari pin-node, which clearly and unambiguously broke the
wording of the rule.
