Hello: The Fuel guage in my 2001 Impala LS always reads FULL. The guage will fall to EMPTY when the key is off, but as soon as I start the car, the guage reads FULL. I assume I need a new sender? Any tips on troubleshooting, or replacement is appreciated. |

Could well be the sender Bill, and in fact it's pretty likely, but before buying a new pump, check the wiring. Faulty wires account for enough of a percentage of these problems to at least investigate. |

There is an access hole under the carpet in your trunk. Remove the cover, unplug the 4 pin connector. Short the purple wire to the black wire that is the same gauge. Key on, if your gauge reads empty, then the sender is at fault. If it still shows full, you have an open in one of those 2 wires. The black wire is ground, the purple should have voltage. Diagnostics don't say how much volts, either 5 or 12. Good luck! "billccm" <bill... (AT) msn (DOT) com> wrote in message news:1177732770.521445.56770 (AT) l77g2000hsb (DOT) googlegroups.com...
