Default '91 Bonneville Headlights - 08-05-2004 , 11:32 PM

Hey again everyone. Just one more question about the '91 SSE. It came
standard with both Daytime Running Lights and automatic headlights, but
neither of these features work. Does anyone know about this kind of stuff?
Is there a hidden fuse or relay somewhere?

Thanks everyone

I'm not sure what to check for DRL's. Is there a DRL module or relay to
check you can check?

Check the headlight bulbs, sockets, wire harness, fuses & relays.

Check the lght sensor in the dash for the automatic lights. Check the
headlight switch too, the righthand portion for the twilight sentennial
might of burned up.

Good Luck.

Does your high beam indicator light up when they are on? It could be the
drl/twilight sentinel module. I have changed a few of these. I don't think
there is any fuse or relay that will solve your problem. As Harry Face said,
I would also check the headlight switch. Sometimes the terminals are burned
due to high resistance. Pull the connector off the swich and look for melted
or discolored terminals.

Not that I can find.

All headlight bulbs and sockets seem to be fine, as do the wire harness's,
and I have checked all the fuses that I can find.

Hmm, now that you mention it, the high beam indicator does not come on when
the HB lights are on. Where would I find this 'drl/twilight' module?

On yours it should be on the drivers side lower dash under the headlight
switch(some are just to the right of being under it). It sits with the plug
going into it from the rear away from you(toward the front of the car)It
sits like a book on its edge.See if that makes any sense to you(a writer I'm
not)

Thanks again for the info R, but I tried replacing the entire
headlight/twilight/dash lights switch (I assumed you were talking about
those switches) today (I went to a junk yard and tried 2 or 3 different
units, even mix matching a few) and still no luck. No DRL's, no auto lights,
and no High Beam indicator. Any other suggestions? Are there relay's or
fuses that I may have missed that could have blown that would make the DRL's
and the auto lights not work, but still let the lights work manually by the
switch?
Thanks again for your time.

As I said in my last post when I asked you if the high beam indicator
worked, It could be the module. My first post advised checking the terminals
on the switch.

Someone wrote a while back that the dealer can program the computer to
disable these functions. Don't know if that's a possibility, in this case.
