Hello, can anyone help me diagnose my radio problems? I have a 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe and the AM radio isn't working. The FM stations work and the CD Player works but the AM radio does not work. Also, I noticed if I have the volume all the way up, the speakers click whenever I turn the turn signals on. I'm not sure if that happened before. Can anyone help me? Thank you. -Carl |

There may be a problem with the antenna. FM stations will work even without an antenna at a reduced quality and prone to interference like from your blinkers. AM stations on the other hand will barely work, if at all. I believe your Civic's generation has the antenna integrated into the rear windshield. If that's the case, make sure it's not disconnected, and that the traces are still continuous. If they're scratched, that would cause the antenna to malfunction. There are paints that will allow you to fix the scratches, but I don't remember their name. Cosmin Carl wrote: Hello, can anyone help me diagnose my radio problems? If you're hearing the signals through your speakers you may also have some crossed wires in the console area. Have the dealer take a peek (or you can do it if you know how) to see if something has disconnected from the rear of the stereo.... perhaps the AM connector has fallen off and is sitting on the power lines for the signals.
