Default 97 Acura 1.8 liter, 5 speed ..want to swap in a V-tec - 10-26-2009 , 12:34 PM

Hi everyone , my son has a 97 acura integra with a 1.8 liter , he planing on turning it into a V-tec
...has bought a V-tec head came with intake and throttle body , also hes got another 1.8 block ...can
anyone out there give us the do's and dont's when building one of these .. any helpfull hints ?
we found piston either get 9.4 to 1 CR or 11.1 CR , also comp makes cams that hes interested in
...this well be a summer daily driver and weekends at the track .. where we live we can get 94
octain gas at the pumps ..
what parts , brands work good together ..what do we do for a computer , can we
re-flash the stock one or do we need to get a V-tec one ?
thanks in advance to everyone who replys

Best bet is to buy the short block, since he already has the head.
He's asking for pain and trouble. The car will be 15 years old before
he finishes. Cam? Yeah, there are a number of good mani's, pick one.
Pistons? Wait until you have a running engine hooked up to the rest
of the car. In fact, wait on any changes to the engine. It's an
engineering rule (which came from THE SCIENTIFIC RULE). Only change
one thing at a time.

You might want to take a look around the Honda-Tech forums. You'll find
more info concerning engine swaps/modifications there than you will
here.
