Default Front speakers in '05 Accord DX/VP - 11-24-2005 , 02:04 AM

I just got over my fear today about removing the door. Once I saw how easy
it was, I was only thinking about changing the speakers. I did the front
tweeters, but now I need to do the woofers.

When I removed the door, I noticed that the speaker was not screwed in as I
would expect. Instead, it looked as if it were glued on 'pinned' somehow.
How do I remove these? It is as if a simple job might get more complex.

There are 3 clips holding the speaker enclosure in the door panel. One
large one at the top center and two small ones at the bottom left and right.

With a flat blade screwdriver or similar instrument, depress the top clip
and pull the enclosure out from the top. Don't pull the whole thing out all
at once or may damage the bottom clips. Instead, pull the top porton only
outward untill the clip is free of the panel. Then lift the entire
enclosure straight upward to release the bottom clips.

Thanks. I did see those clips. Now, is there a problem putting new
speakers in? Can screw them in or must I drill holes? Do I have to use
that plastic apparatus to install the new speakers?

You should be able to tell at this point if the speaker can be removed
from the enclosure. It would seem unusual if it couldn't, but it's possible
Honda made the whole thing to be replaced as a unit. The instruction I gave
above came out of the service manual, and it stops there.

I have a slight rattle in my drivers door and was wondering how hard it was
to remove the door skin to get at the innards. I have a warranty but I know
my local dealer will do more damage than good.

It is easier than removing speakers. All you do is get something flat.
Star at the bottom and pop up the first plastyic piece them slip your hand
in and pop the others off until it is off. Oh yeah, firs remove the screws
in the door handle areas.

I tried it today. I could not move that enclosure out of the door. I felt
that it was looser though. I only saw two clips by the way. Both on the
side. Why does replacing the speaker have to be a pain in the ass?
