Default Honda complaints - 09-16-2003 , 05:42 PM

DETROIT (Reuters) -- U.S. safety officials have upgraded an investigation
into about 1.4 million Honda vehicles after hundreds of complaints and some
injury reports that the vehicle's keys could be taken out of the ignition
with the transmission not shifted to park.

According to U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents
retrieved on Tuesday, the agency has upgraded its preliminary investigation
into 1.3 million Honda Accord sedans from model years 1998 to 2001, as well
as about 62,000 Honda CR-V sport utility vehicles from 2002.

How times change. My 1960 Cadillac was designed to allow the key to be
removed from the ignition with the engine running.

As do many Harley - Davidsons. The reason is you don't want your keychain
dangling and scratching the chrome finish.

Nope. Seems Honda is still suffering from this problem still. Both my
Brother's Acura and sister's 2003 Civic had this problem.

We bought our brand new Honda Odyssey from Norm Reeves Honda of
Huntington Beach, CA. One day we received a letter explaining that the
transmission had had problems and that the transmission warranty would
be extended to 100,000 miles and 7 years. Great! Sure enough this
year, 2004, the transmission has started acting up. I called my local
dealer and was informed that not only would they not look at it on a
Saturday they would not repair it on a Saturday. Furthermore, Norm
Reeves Honda would require 4 days or more to repair it. Well. Surely
they would supply me with a loaner until the repairs had been
completed, since it was they who had sold me the defective product. I
talked to everyone that I could; no one would help me. I would have to
rent a car for the full time the Odyssey was in the shop. No
guarantees how long that would be. I then started sending emails to
Norm Reeves (contacthb (AT) normreeves (DOT) com), 20 in all asking for someone to
contact me and help me. I did not get one response. That is why I
find myself here to tell anyone who would listen. DON’T BUY CARS FROM
HONDA AND ESPECIALLY NOT FROM NORM REEVES HONDA OF HUNTINGTON BEACH.
Next time it’s a Toyota.

i have a 2003 pontic sunfire that has 75,000 miles and at 46,000 miles the
trany started slipping. my warranty only went to 36,000 miles. i had to fix
everything out of my pocket. so just feel lucky you bought a honda where if
they know theres a problem they will extend the warranty because if you
would have bought a pontic, dodge, or ford they would have told you its your
problem and you would have been like me and payed about 3000.00 to get it
fixed

Why do you keep bringing this up? You were ranting about it in March and
again in September. Did you get another bad transmission?

And you think the Toyota dealer will give you a loaner? Very few dealers
provide loaners.....unless you bought the extended waranty that provides
that in the contract.

I know this doesn't help you Huntington Beach, but Frank Leta Honda in
St. Louis provides loaner cars. Three days before Christmas they had to
order a fast idle valve for my 1994 Accord, but wouldn't get the part
till after Christmas. They gave me a 2004 Accord V6 EX loaner for 5 days
at no charge. I did have to refill the gas tank and show proof of
insurance.

I had another repair on this 1994, 6-months ago, and they provided a
loaner car then as well.

We also have a 1994 Camry and the Camry dealer does not provide loaner cars.
