Default Honda CR-V with Junk/Salvage Title - 07-19-2003 , 06:21 PM

I am considering purchasing a 2002 CR-V. The dealer describes it as follows
(and says it has no warranty):

"Several months ago it got involved in a minor accident with a small damage
to the front as a result. It had fenders, bumper cover, hood and one
headlight replaced. The air bags were also replaced. There was no damage
to the frame, engine or suspension. This CR-V was repaired with all
original Honda parts by a licensed shop with extensive body repair
experience. It is currently registered in California after passing all
state-mandated safety tests."

There is almost no mileage on this automobile.

I am trying to understand what the Junk Title and Salvage Title (as per the
Carfax report) mean. The description indicates very little damage, all of
which has been repaired. Normally, an insurance company won't 'total' a car
unless it is worth less than its fair market value.

Would I be able to purchase an extended warranty on this vehicle?

So, what does it all mean?

IMHO I'd say it was a loser. I don't live in CA so I don't know the law
there. Best leave it alone.

As a rule, you subtract at least 50% for a salvage title, no matter how nice
of a job they did.

If I understand your post it means just what you said, it was totaled
out
by
the insurance company and a salvage co bid on it got it.

Someone bought it from the salvage co.repaired it did a great job now
its
got a salvage title on its history.

Those vehicles are ok if you can get it for the right price, have
another
repair shop check it out, before you buy it, drive it till the wheels
fall
off. There hard to get rid of once they are marked salvage.

Here in Nebr, a vehicle with a salvage title or a flood car is the kiss
of
death!

I think I understand. The vehicle is listed on Ebay. I was perplexed
because
the damage laid out in the Description wouldn't have nearly enough to
total
the car, so something is not right here. I don't think I'm going to be
willing to take a chance on this one.
