I was told that new keys for my 03 Accord would be about $200. They
have the transmitter built into the key. I don't need more than the
two provided with the car (plus a valet key). The salesperson was just
warning me to try not to lose or destroy one!

they aren't laser cut. they are cut with an end mill. i've cut
them. They are expensive though.
as for the guy talking about security. locks are to keep honest
people honest, not to keep real criminals out. if i get your vin
number i can start your car.

Yes, and imagine my delight when I realized-- too late-- that those
pants I just threw into the wash had my key and automatic lock/unlock
controller in them.

Good news. My controller worked like a charm right after a wash. I got
it before the dryer, though.

Regular cycle, detergent, no chlorine bleach. <g>

I like the fob and key separate so I can give the wife one or the other
when
we're out so whoever is done first can still get back in the car. We do
this
and don't have to carry two sets of keys w/ us. I also used the fob to
leave
the key in the ignition so I could leave it in accessory so I could charge
my cell phone as the 12v outlet is only hot when the key is on for some
stupid reason so my phone never charges fully. Just my two cents.
Jim

that will be great until you end up like my grandmother, she left her key in
the cup holder and took the remote with her, and went in to a store, then
came back and the battery was dead and wouldnt unlock it haha.... she had to
go in and buy another battery :-P
