Wife's 93 Accord SE has been relegated to 3rd position in the food chain, and we're getting ready to sell it. This is a one-owner car, and we have identified just one real problem with it (not bad for 240,000 miles...); the ABS light came on about 500 miles ago, and now is on constantly. Dealer just told me the codes read back indicate an internal leak in the ABS modulator. They want $1,240 to replace. I'm having a hard time justifying sinking this kind of cash into a car with a quarter million miles on it, and one which we are going to sell. At the same time, I don't feel real good about selling this problem to "the next guy". What are my options? I believe I am capable of changing the part myself (understand that it operates under high pressure), but have no idea where to find replacement part. Junkyard scavenging would not be out of the question, if a part in reasonable condition could be found. How much of the $1240 is parts vs. labor? [a rhetorical question] |
