LOL!! I see the good folks at www.honda-pilot.org already helped you
out on this one :-) Glad to see another Pilot owner using the power
of the net to their full advantage. And yeah, the 5 speed is very
nice to have on a car. Take it up to say close to 100MPH and see how
low the RPM is.

It's normal for the Pilot. Mine is the same way. It's the only thing I
don't like about it. The tranny is screwy like you wouldn't believe. I
guess they are trying to get as many MPG as possible. I would happily trade
a few MPG for a four speed that keeps the rpm up in a range where it does
not need to downshift for every little thing. It looks like 5th gear can
only maintain speed on level ground but cannot excellerate. But whats worse
is you cannot force it to run in 4th! There is no 4th gear selection.
Also, the thing is a little slow to figure out what gear it should be in.
It seems that if it needs to go to 2nd from 4th, it first has to go to 3rd.
Other than my gripes about the tranny it's a great vehicle.
