shifting

i have a 1988 honda civic automatic trans. and it seems 2 keep shifting
back and forth in and out of overdrive is this normal? this is the 1st
honda i ever owned i just bought it pls help

What mileage, and what was put in the tranny at the last service? How
long since the tranny was last drained and refilled?
