Default 1994 Accord Rocker removal - 06-20-2009 , 03:16 PM

Hello,

I'm new to this list. I'm doing rust repair on my daughters 1994 Accord and
I can't figure out how to remove the plastic rocker panels.

Any help would be appreciated.

Eric

well, this has only a distant chance of being helpful, but i
discovered (by accident the hard way) that the rocker panels on an
odyssey have a sheet metal screw on the front end going in lengthwise,
kind of behind the front mudflap, with that removed the whole rocker
panel can just slide forward and off, it's held on by about a dozen
clips snapped into the sheet metal which mate with tabs molded into
the rocker so that sliding it backwards snaps the tabs in.

No, unfortunately that is not how they attach. They have some kind of
plastic pin that goes in from under the car and also from behind the trim.
I broke one pin off but it didn't help any.

There are two small screws in the front. Remove them.

There are nine black pins in the underside. They consist of two pieces (a
middle and an outer piece. You use a very thin-blade screwdriver to pull
the middles out of the outers. Then you remove the outers from the trim.

At this point, you now slide the trim forwards about 3/8", then lift it
away from the car to unhook it from the white side clips. Might need to
wiggle a bit, but be CAREFUL. There is no need to "break" things.
