Default Acura clutch master cylinder - 02-01-2009 , 07:25 PM

Any one has problem with this part? The one on my RSX seems to only last for
2 years and then start making noise. I had it replaced once when the car was
still under warranty. Now I may have to pay for it. Is there a good non-OEM
part out there?

Usually with these hydraulics people go with OEM. But your local NAPA
store's NNC800068 (I don't know what year, but I used 2005 RSX 2.0L
in search) looks like a Perfection Clutch's product.

Give Perfection Clutch a call:
http://www.perfectionclutch.com/

Looks like yours (hydraulic portion) is only 2 years:

"The average automobile clutch lasts 7.6 years. That means the clutch
hydraulics can get actuated on average almost 250,000 times before the
clutch wears out.

If the clutch is worn out after 7.6 years of continuous use and heat
cycles then it would be safe to assume the hydraulics could have
already failed or are susceptible to failure at some point in the near
future."

Ok, Perfection Clutch, who makes Zoom racing clutches, bought the
hydraulics line from Affinia, which included the company that made
Raybestos brake products.

Well, the problem is the OEM part. I don't know if the local dealer happened
to have a bunch of bad CMC or what. I am not going to pay for the part if it
is going to go bad again. In this case, aftermarket may the only choice.
Btw, mine is 2005 as well.

What year? What kind of noise? Where is the noise? You need to give a bit
more info than you've given.

The '02-'04 models had a known problem with a squeaky pedal. Is that what
you've got? Or is the noise at the gearbox end?

It's 2005. I hear squeaky noise when the pedal is pressed slowly. When I had
that last time, the dealer replaced the CMC and the noise was gone.

From the Honda TSB 02-002 January 11, 2005:

Squeak at the Clutch Pedal

SYMPTOM
A squeak, a twang, or a notchy feel when the clutch
pedal is pressed.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The clutch master cylinder spring is rubbing on the
outer diameter of the piston when the pedal is pressed,
or the master cylinder quick connect is moving.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the master cylinder, and apply a thin film of
silicone grease to the clutch line fitting.

Understand.

However, give the mentioned TSB 02-002 a try by calling the 1-800
Honda national line (not dealer). And see if they will give you a
goodwill one free. Otherwise at least Perfection Clutch makes many
Zoom racing clutches.

Thanks for the info. Any words on when they will ship new parts. I checked 2
local dealers' web sites. They seemed to run out of this part.
