Default excessive road noise - 04-18-2006 , 10:07 AM

I have a 1999 Accord LX with 89000 miles. A while back I put my tires that
were on the factory steel wheels on a set of alloy wheels. Both wheels and
tires purchased at Discount Tire. Immediately upon leaving the tire store
and getting on the freeway, I started hearing excessive road noise that was
not there just a few minutes before, prior to changing to the alloys. I was
advised upon returning to the tire store that the noise would go away in
about 500 miles. It didn't . Subsequent visits back to the store produced
various answers. I believe one of them was the tires were "topping", I
believe was the term used. Has anyone had this type of problem with a wheel
change and what is/was the solution. Thanks.

Did they put directional tires on the wheels backwards? They'll sure
make a lot of noise that way, and wear extremely fast too.
