Default Question on waxcing new Honda? - 07-19-2003 , 05:52 PM

I just purchased a new Honda Odyssey. I have always been one to take care of
my cars. Some people have told me that I should not wax the car because the
factory usually puts a sealant on the car and that I only need to wash it.
In other words, they claim that car finishes are different today then they
were many years ago. Others say because I live in Florida, I should put wax
on every few months because of the sun and heat. What is your opininon. If
I am to wax it, how long should I wait and what waxes do you recommend.

Thanks in advance,

Randy

You must wax everyday. Use Turtle wax.

I bought a Honda in November 2001 and brought it into this place that
offers paint protection. I had that done to the car (and rust
protection and under coating at the same time applied to the car) and
to this day I haven't waxed the car yet - the paint still looks like
new and whenever it rains, the water beads off the car. I think one
of the secrets of keeping the paint looking good is to wash and dry
the car properly and regularly (I wash it every week).
What treatment did they do to the car, and how much did it cost?

If I was to wax the car, I think I would use Merguiar's brand waxes -
note that there are serveral "stages" that you would need to go
through if you used this brand. Hope this helps.
Clarification: I use Meguiars: there are 3 stages you can use, but you
can also just use the wax without going through the other two stages
(paint cleaner, polish). The paint cleaner is great, though.
