My problem sounds similar to psykopsyke's CRX problem. I try to start
my car and get no cranking. The lights, radio, windows, etc... all
work but the car will not crank. I can hear a click sound down by the
pedals but that is it. I found the shattered remains of a rubber like
pad that used to be glued to the clutch pedal that would
engage/disengenge that switch/interlock/latch thing so the car would
only start when the clutch is depressed. Not sure why that would cause
it not to start since the button is out all the time now and the
switch is arranged so that when the clutch pedal is down the button is
supposed ot be out anyway.

Battery is good. Starter is brand new. Checked all the fuses under the
dash and by the battery and all are good.

My guess is that it is either the ignition switch or some part of the
clutch interlock besides the button that sticks out over the pedal. My
plan is to jury-rig the clutch interlock and see what happens, which
to means disconnecting the *!iunjs and splicing the two wires
together: hotwiring it...

Am I missing anything? Any advice?
What you appear to be "missing" is that there are two switches - the one
you are talking about which is released as soon as you move the pedal is
the interlock for the cruise control. The other switch is pressed in by a
pressure pad on the pedal only when the pedal is fully pressed to the floor
and is the interlock for the starter. Are you sure the shattered pressure
pad you found is not for the 2nd of the switches?
