I am looking at buying a used 2002 Odyssey. However, the seller has informed me that they replaced the transmission at around 15k miles (it has <30k miles on it). This obviously worries me. After doing some investigation, I learned that lots of people were having issues with the transmissions. Honda responded by offering to replace the tranny and give a 7yr/100k extended warranty on them. But after calling several dealerships (and looking at Honda's press release from Sept), I confirmed that this warranty is only given to 2000 and 2001 year models, and 2002 is NOT covered. The reason I was given was that the problem had been identified and supposedly fixed by 2002. Well, if that's true, then why did the seller have to replace theirs??? I am therefore concerned that maybe the tranny is really NOT fixed, and will break down on me after the 3/36 runs out. Opinions? |

I'd put the dollar amount for the extended warranty in the bank and use it when you need to. I believe that all extended warranties are worthless. bob |
