Default 5 cars on the lead lap WTH! - 09-10-2006 , 01:44 PM

Hi All,

Just watching the Chicagoland race, and there are 5 cars on the lead
lap, does Indy tear their cars apart after the race and figure out why
they are so much faster than the other 20 cars? NASCAR would impound
every damn one of them and have a hard look at their setups.

Sure makes for a boring race that is for sure.

Joe

Oh, 4 on the lead lap and 4th place looking like he will fold also;
crap racing I say.

Nail Bitter, What? Those few cars have had most of the field a lap
down the whole season. Yea the points were close, but its just between
the same 4 or 5 cars.

I just like to know why they are so much faster. Its not that there a
bit better, they are completly different cars than the other 19 or so
cars.

You are trying so hard and still fail to badmouth that nail-biter. That
was excellent stuff.

I just caught the last 40 laps of that, and it didn't strike me as a
nail-biter by any means. I found it to be quite boring, but that's just
my opinion. To each his own.

They're the same cars. Just put together better, tweaked better,
driven and managed better.

Nothing new. The differences through the field have always been
there. When you get a race with long green periods, and it's not a
track with pack drafting, they spread out. The races that have me
wondering are the ones where the field stays bunched.

OK, accepted. But why do so many people openly hate the IRL (I don't
mean you :-) and still watch every race? Should this NG be renamed
ras.masochists?

I bought into the IRL hate a little when I started posting here, but I
saw no point in it after a while. I feel that often when people choose a
camp, they lose objectivity. I see EARLs and CHUMPs flame back and forth
pointing out the flaws of the other camp while ignoring the flaws of
their own camp. I'd rather enjoy what I can from each and hope that
things improve in both series, or preferably that they become one with
the best venues and teams from each side (but I won't hold my breath for
that). But the others will do as they may. So be it.

No. They already have their group, RASC.

You'll never convince the faithful that 100% throttle racing is boring. This
was the first race I watched start to finish this year without FF'ing and I
gotta say I just don't get it.
