I have Comcast and the only weather related outages I have is when the
storms take out the power on the block kitty corner from me. I still have
power cuz I'm on different circuit, but the cable node that serves me is on
the pole on that corner and gets its power from that circuit.

One time they had so much damage to that electrical circuit that it was
gonna be a week before they got it back up. So Comcast hauled a generator
out to the pole, chained it to the pole and ran an extension cable up to the
node. The funny thing was watching a tech come out twice a day to fill up
the tank, just to find that it was *always* topped off ;=]

If you had any real knowledge on the subject you would know that
weather related problems are a symtom of weak signal strength
most commonly due to poor dish alignment. It could also be due
to a bad lnb, cable and connection problem but those are less
frequent. At the higher latitudes (New England), aiming becomes
more critical.

DirecTV has notified its customers that it will drop sports channel Versus
on Sept. 1 unless the two can work out a carriage agreement.

They always seem to work out an agreement.
Gone, tick tock.

Direct TV, the nation's leading provider of digital satellite television services, now has the largest audience of subscribers - over 14 million happy people. What is making all these people content and satisfied with Direct TV? In one word: EVERYTHING - service, equipment, and programming.

Everything except VS.
