Oh, yeah. I'm sure this is the EXACT explanation. That would explain how some of the rookies that buy their way into the field in back-up cars get entries at thte last minute. I wasn't talking about making a entry. I was talking about changing or adding the official name of the entry so the painters would have it right for the pit wall. Allan had me do it one year and I had to fill out a card with boxes for each letter. It was the official name of the entry and there were only X number of spaces on the entry because there was only so much space to paint the driver's name and entry name on the pit wall. The car had been entered prior to the start of official practice. That still wouldn't explain why the speedway wouldn't list a sponsor on |

Can you tell me what this has to do with sponsorship money? Just because their name is on the entry list does not mean that they are paying a penny towards team expenses. That is what the discussion is about. I don't think it's about painting a name on a wall. The teams in question got last minute decals on their sidepods. Many of us would argue that those decals were basically there to take up space and that no (or very little) money changed hands for that priviledge. Just looked better than a blank sidepod. |

These "sponsors" aren't paying for sponsorship. They are just having their names placed on the sidepods because they have some affiliation with the speedway. How did you manage to make that leap? By "affiliation" he means "paid money to a team racing at the speedway". |

Champcar also has people that are actually showing up to the races. |

More than obvious Dave. it's called putting 2 and 2 together. I don't see long lines forming to sponsor the Indycars. Their were only 34 cars vying for 33 spots. You really think, with that few cars, that it would be that hard to have a sponsor before practice or qualifying? |
