Actually, the LV and AC races are really at the no-hold-barred state of
the art. No pit stops, but usually more strategy and thinking involved,
especially for the five minute period before the start. Not
"high-speed" but tightly competitive.

Thanks, Bob! I had forgotten about the LV Cup and have missed
everything...until now. I have it on the tube and Bump day, with its
lack of drama and good drivers, is now bumped!

Too bad you got such a late start. BMW-Oracle American team is out of
it today. At least the Spanish are holding on. I expect NV to run the
AC against the Swiss. Should be an interesting match-up.

BTW, Stars & Stripes is now based in San Diego. For $99 per person they
offer a cruise around SD Bay. Its a good time.

I set a reminder in my calendar earlier in the year, but we have been
so busy at work that when it came up, I dismissed it and completely
forgot. I usually have been sailing at least once and my sailor
friends remind me of when it starts.

Pisser...

I immediately tuned into VS and watched the replay and caught up on
the matches. It looks pretty good so far. I'm not really an Elison fan
so BMW-Oracle wouldn't be my favorite team even though they are
'Mericans. I was always a Conner fan, not a rich software magnate fan
at all.

Wow! That is pretty cool. I wonder if old Dennis himself would skipper
the thing?

We've only been out once this year. One of our jib halyards was pretty
frayed around the snap shackle so I just replaced all of them.

But its early in the season. I hope to be out more than last year.

I'm disappointed that we couldn't field a stronger team. The Oracle
boat has never seemed that competitive to me.

Only for private parties and big $$. But Dennis does have a Catalina 27
that he races every Wednesday evening on the Bay.

I used to live on a small lake and had a Sunfish and would go out a
few times a week, just to have fun or relieve stress. It was always
tied up and ready to go, but I still long for the ocean sailing my
friends invite me to a few times a year. They have a nice place at the
Gulf of Mexico and we try to meet on Saturday for sailing and F1 races
on Sunday morning. I haven't been yet this year and maybe this weekend
is the one!

Elison and company seems to want to win, but the dedication doesn't
seem to be there. He is more like Bruce McCaw was in CART. If they
don't win in a year or so, they bugger off to something else.

I say give the bucks to Dennis and let him bring home the
trophy...like the Buffet song says, or maybe Ted is available.

I saw some article on that and it looked like huge fun!
