Default The End of ChampCar - 02-28-2007 , 12:45 AM

I want to remind all IndyCar fans that when ChampCar finally breaths
it's last
breath we should offer our sympathy to their fans. We have to remember that
they
should have been in the IRL a few years ago. They left Indy, or was kicked
out, whatever. After the split ChampCar was the true IndyCar series.
Slowly but surely the IRL stole that
magic that ChampCar once had. The IRL slowly but surely became the true
IndyCars.

When ChampCar dies they will come back to where they belong - in the
IRL. They will be
coming home. This split was like Vietnam and America in the 1960's. A sad
war and a turbulent time. But the war is about over. The boys are coming
home. Saigon is falling. ChampCar will take its last step.

But the future is bright. The ChampCar drivers will add excitement to
what is already the
premier open wheel racing series in the World. The IRL will also add Long
Beach, the Australian race, and I'm sure get back to Canada for two races a
year. So the ChampCar drivers will feel right at home.

Yes, the IRL fans have a right to be upset over what could be considered
treason by
ChampCar. But I'm sure after ChampCar ends, their fans will ashamed of what
their series has done and not done over the years. Lets not lash out at the
ChampCar crowd. They will have
enough shame in their series to last a lifetime. We have to help them ease
the pain. What better way to ease their pain than to let the ChampCar
drivers race against the best race car drivers in the world - wheel to wheel
on an oval super speedway?

Remember - IRL = Dad and Mom. ChampCar = eighteen year old impetuous
son or daughter who thinks they can move out, keep a job, pay a car payment,
and pay rent and utilities, with ease, only to come back to Dad and Mom in a
few months. We have to accept them back.

I seriously doubt you will see a large number of the teams come over.
Some will move to other series such as the ALMS. The money is not
there for most of the teams to buy IRL equipment , unless they locate
something they have not had in years, a paying sponsor. I see 2 maybe
3 teams coming over with a max of maybe 4-5 cars, but more than likely
each would be single car teams. Some teams will either fold or just
run the 500.

Well you as I am sure you are well aware by now, if Champ Car fans
wanted to be IRL fans too they could be. Both will exist as long as
the owners want to pay for them cause I doubt either will be turning a
profit this year either. You very well may have more race teams come
back to the IRL than Champ Car fans returning to the IRL and I can't
see more than one or two teams making the switch.

Must be interesting to be an IRL fan. Now they want Champ Car fans
back when its proven they can not even sell all the seats of the
greatest spectale in racing these days on their own. This after a
decade of slaps in the face, ignoring chances to grow open wheel
racing because Tony George wouldn't be in total control, multiple
attempts to put the series out of business, many other things that
have happened over the years that make returning impossible. The IRL
is going to have to grow a new fan base. They chased the old one
off. It could be done, in about 40 to 50 years, but not in the
lifetime of the current management.

If Champ Car ever ceased, the IRL will be exactly where it is right
now. A series with little to no fan base outside of Indy. I will
never be an IRL fan, just an ex open wheel race fan. I can find other
types of racing to watch.

Can you get back to us after those hits of LSD wear off?

In the future, can I recommend only one hit of acid?

I'm sure there are fans of both series out there, but a very small
minority.

You will not see a jump in the IRL fan base *should* CC cease to exist.

Maybe you should have suggested a lot of acid. But it should be lots of
hits of battery acid.

You will not see a jump in the IRL fan base *should* CC cease to exist.

However, if the tables were turned and (when) the IRL would fold, their
fan base will probably flock over to Champ Car. I expect most of the
surviving teams to come back to Champ Car even though the welcome will
be pretty frosty for some of them.

Maybe if he starts sharing a cell with dottie, both can share the same meds.
