Default Milwaukee Starting Lineup - 07-24-2004 , 03:14 PM

This is a bit of a qualifying mix up. Some fast guys at the back and
some slower guys up front. Kannan splitting the Rahal cars and Sam the
Man in fourth. The track is not too easy to pass on, so it is going to
be INTERESTING.

So it goes without saying that Taylor can't qualify. Maybe he can keep
clean in the race and do well again. Carpenter and IV did well??? OK,
they do as well as they can, but they did out qualify some better
drivers.

Tomorrow afternoon will have four races on at roughly the same time. I
don't have that many recording devices and tuners, so something has to
go. Pisser.

17+ mph and over 2 seconds difference fastest to slowest in a 17 car field
on a 1 mile track.

Pathetic.

Of which 2 drivers didn't set a time and the 14th-placed driver was 1.2
seconds slower.

Talk about skewed.

Details tend to get in the way, you know.

Duck.
So the 14th place driver was 1.2 secs. slower.

And you think that's OK?

They're all running the same cars, tires, and engines. They should all be
qualifying within a half second or less for the entire field.

Still pathetic.

Well it isn't the same thing as the local short track. Running the same
engines tires and chassis is only a portion of the overall package. Set up
is the key and these cars are very sensitive. A change in weather, a spring
thats too soft, a wing setting thats just a degree or two off all could turn
a front row car into a backmarker. Even if one driver on a team has a first
rate set up, the driving style alone might make it totally unsuitable for
driver B. This isn't Nascar and we shouldn't expect it to be.

I can't believe someone is actually trying to spin that one.
