Why? Isn't it about the racing? Do they try to get people on the grounds for race day because of a Nickelodean Display? Extreme Sports? Do they purposely try and boost attendance with events other than the race (like here for the Houston Grand Prix)? No. |

So it isn't about the racing. It is about getting bodies past the gate. This is why there is little hope for open wheel racing in the US. Why does the IRL need to merge with this? Carey in Manvel Glad you brought this up....good for you... I would have to say there if there was a race that was based on over-hype, and stands filled with ONCE A YEAR race fans that have no clue about racing, I would have to say the grand prize for such a event is the IRL's indy 500. It would really the height of hypocrisy to blame Champ Car for over hyping here? You *real* problem you have is that you don't really want intelligent fans. |
