In the spirit of RASI and and our dearly departed TJMC...who went to live where there is no internet service. There should be a new clock. Lets see, George kicked to the curb by the sisters, .14 ratings on an obscure cable channel, mostly road races won by foreigners. Empty stands. Sounds like 2 to 3 years max. So in the grand scheme of the history of the sport, *it`s probably *about an hour until midnight. |

In many ways, the IRL's Doomsday Clock has already hit midnight. Long gone are the so called principles that it intended to promote or propagate on the American open wheel landscape. Yes, the IRL logo or banner sits proudly atop what's left of the 500 and the Series, but all that is considerably smaller in every way than 1995 when CART ran the series, and Indy was an open competition of chassis and engines. If I were setting up a new clock, it would be marking time until this pathetic shadow of what once was implodes, or is killed off. So much damage has been done, I'm not sure what "new" leadership can do, but we've all seen what the IRL's vision has brought. Meanwhile, whatever clock is ticking, the handful of IRL faithful can beat the drums for all that you've accomplished since 1995. --Sterling |
