Crikey!

Haven't read links yet, but I do remember well watching him perish.

Hate this sport whenever it turns that way.

sigh.

RIP Greg. Enjoyed your driving.

I remember meeting him at the 97 and again at the 98 Indycar event on the
Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise). He was just such a nice guy. Even to a
cocksure 15 and then 16 year old boy wanting to chew his ear off and tell
him how much he thought he knew. He said he remembered me, but I'm sure it
was just politeness.

That had to be one of the most nasty crashes I've seen. Quite sickening.

Almost like the car collapsed into the one point. Yuk.

At least it was instant.

They're not dying in F1 now - thank fuck

It'll happen again.

You can't get rid of g-forces.

All it takes is a rapid enough change of direction.

But, yes, thank fuck the cars hold together now.

I think the wheel tethers have made a BIG difference when it comes to bits
flying

Did you see Moore's crash? *Nothing* could protect a driver hitting a
concrete wall at that attitude at that speed. 154g impact with only the
roll bar and the driver's head between the car and the wall.

Is that @David (me)?

Yes, I saw it live.

One of those ones that nearly turned me off the sport altogether.

Quite literally nauseating to watch.

I've never seen a car collapse into such a small space. It was horrible.

So, if your reply was @me, then yeah.

I saw it too - agreed, utterly horrible and obviously non-survivable
even at first sight.

(What was the stuff about @me? I simply replied to your post - yes,
standards have improved massively, but I meant that some things just
can't be prevented - as yet. Maybe the concrete walls should go?)
