... in sports cars. An AGR driver doesn't know how to use his mirrors and a Penske driver gets penalized for it. I can here the conversation in the tower now, "OHMAGAWD - I can't take another second of that damn whining! Just give Ryan the penalty and hope that shuts Michael up." Unbelievable. IMSA usually doesn't make bad calls like that. -- forty "To embrace an extreme, one must first let go of reason." |

Well that could be but IMSA doesn't exist anymore does it? That was the Amercian LeMans Series, and to their credit the officating there is usually better than most. |

And what's the deal with the cowardly color commentator? A few seconds before the incident he says Franchitti's car was acting twitchy because of the broken back wing part. During replays of the incident the color commentator says Briscoe was up far enough that Franchitti should have seen him. Plus the play by play guy says when the incident happened that it was just slight contact. And, the color commentator says Briscoe was clearly trying not to hit Franchitti. So what happens after the penalty is announced? Play by play asks if color commentator agrees or disagrees with the penalty. What does color commentator say? "Well, yeah, I definitely agree." Huh? |

Yep. They sure changed their tune after likely hearing some nasty whining coming from HPD and AGR. Having looked over the replays again, I can see how a steward /might/ perceive it as being Ryan's fault. I would completely disagree with it, but I could at least see where he/she'd be coming from. What I think happened was that AGR protested and got their way, being under the tent of the title sponsor for the event and all. -- forty "To embrace an extreme, one must first let go of reason." |
