I kind of wondering what is the thought process behind the IRL race in Detroit? Lets see. hum, go to Detroit, and see all the used condoms and needles strewn around the bell island park. The big auto industry is laying off 100,'s of thousands of workers the city hall people are 100% dead beat people. at 5 pm, everyone gets the hell out of the city..it is a ghost town with no night life The hookers and drug dealers should welcome the race, as it will being in money for them great, lets bring a race with a Japanese auto maker supplying the engine into the heart of Detroit Great, bring in a bunch of drivers with a foreign names into the heart of motor town. Champ car left Detroit because it simply was not a viable venue. Does the IRL know something about Detroit that makes them think they can make a go of this race? Is this a charity case for the city hall to revitalize the city, and or race? I trying to figure out how this race can work? Am I just complete miss-reading the whole concept of this race??? Can this race really be a success? |

IRL looking to ditch MIS eventually??? -- forty Yep it was a RP project I don't doubt. It could be to keep a presense in the area. IRL looking to ditch MIS? Id guess it was more likely the other way around and this time they got some warning. Wasn't the IRL surposed to be an all oval series again??? How do the heros of the American short tracks get to Indy now without road racing experience??? Hmm sure falls in with the vision |

Bill Jonesi wrote: My understanding was, that planned construction in downtown was going to make the track there impossible, for either F1 or CART. So a move to Belle Isle was necessary, even if it's not a good course. I seem to remember reading something about that, but couldn't remember exactly. I think they still could hold the race downtown, but the construction made the setup much more expensive, ce n'est pas? |

Obviously the author is quite biased, and most probably, racist. |

It's more probably a case of income and spending leaving the central areas and moving to outside the cities. Then, there's a general disrespect for the environment. People need to *care* about where they live and clean up the mess! |

Why is the IRL bothering with racing in Detroit anyway? |
