Open wheel racing in the United States is dead. Why beat around the bush?

No, OWR is lying in a ditch bleeding profusely.

That's a funny thing to say when the IRL is the premier open wheel
racing
series in the world.

F1 is shaking in their boots about losing too much ground to the immense
popularity and increasing international following of the IRL...

OOPS! That was early-90's CART. My bad!

Very true, but that's exactly what the irL has chosen to imitate. CART from
the early-mid 90's. The problem with trying to imitate something is even
though you might achive your goal, you are still just a fake Rolex being
sold on a street corner.

Indeed, I'm not going to hold my breath to see Alonso, Kimi, or other F1
superstars jump to the IRL a la Mansell & Fittipaldi.

Hardly a Rolex, but a copy of something that didn't work.

You are very right. Those folks will probably follow Montoya to NASCAR.

It's a bit of a stretch to compare Montoya with Mansell or Fittipaldi in
such a manner.
