Well the Trooper went in today, and they replaced the sensor for $272.00
and all seems well. They also fixed a slight oil drip from the rear
differential under warranty.

Apparently the sensor can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled and
work fine for many more miles. You might consider doing the same.

And there is always the chance that the one they show you is one they
pulled from another Trooper that they couldn't clean up and reinstall.
They keep that one to show the folks that ask to see the old part.
