For starters, if you get pulled over for any reason by the police, you 'will' end up on the bad end of a tow truck and likely have an extra ticket for driving an unsafe vehicle. Been there.... Cops take a 'very' dim view of vehicles on the road with a brake failure warning shouting out at you from the dash. In my case it was a pinched wire that I had just been too lazy to fix. Cop didn't care for my 'excuse', even though my pedal 'felt' fine. Your brakes have failed, period. They went low enough on fluid to air lock the combination valve. This means only one set of brakes is likely working. You will need to have the brakes properly bled. Getting the air out of the combination valve can be very difficult sometimes. On some valves they use in some Jeeps, you need a tool or some way to hold down a pin in the center of the valve from moving. Some others have to have the light sender removed to get the air out. Some will just bleed out. I let the brake fluid get too low and it came on; now that the fluid level is OK and the brakes work great, the light is still on. No mention of 'reset' in the brake manual. Thank you, |
