Questions from a newbee

Just purchased a 98 TJ, soft top, 6 cyl manual. Need a couple questions
answered.

First & foremost, I've noticed that the gas gauge tends to drop considerably
when the tank is full & especially when the tank is near empty. It rapidly
drops from 1/4 to E in the matter of minutes. Is this common with the TJ's?
Can this be corrected? I'm wondering how much I can ride on when it drops that
fast. There has to be "something" in the tank. There are also times when I
start the Jeep up & the gauge doesn't move. I have to shut down & restart for
it to get it to work. Is this common?

Second, while washing the car, is there anything I need to be aware of? In
other words, what do I NOT USE on the soft top. It's black & I don't want to
to fade or become discolored in anyway. Do I handle the windows differently?
I was told just soap & water was good but I want to make sure.

Finally, can anyone hook me up with a link or two with Wrangler FAQ's?

Depends on tank size Jeff =)
I have the 19gal and fill up right around there, so not sure about a
smaller one.

I've noticed similar with my '99 TJ's gas gauge. Goes pretty quick
thru the first quarter tank, and flat out hauls ass through the last
quarter, so I guess that's 'normal'. However, even when I'm convinced
I'm on fumes and about to run out of gas, the tank only takes 16-17
gals, so I still had 2 or 3 gallons left. Not sure about the gauge not
moving at all... never had that one. Not sure about washing either
hehehe. I found an awesome FAQ once maintained on a personal site, but
I can't find it now. Spend some time searching on 'Jeep FAQ' on
google.com and I bet you'll stumble across it.

Aw, next time you empty your tank, just toss a lit match in there. That
should get rid of all of your tank dents.
